There are some advantages of using solid bronze bushings instead of steel back bushings (bimetallic).

•  Material free of restrict substances: Solid bronze bushings have a maximum lead of 0.05% on its composition, which is a mere impurity. Lead is considered, nowadays, a restrict substance in Europe and USA. Its utilization will be, very soon, forbidden all around the world (steel back bushings – have around 10.00% of lead on its composition).

•  Larger durability of the axle: Steel back bushings are made of steel, with a little layer of bronze in the internal surface, which will be in contact with the axle. So, after the wastage of the bronze layer, the axle will be in direct contact with the steel part of bushing, which will cause the wearing of it. Ciamet bushings are made of solid bronze. After the wastage of the internal surface of the part, the axle will remain in direct contact with the bronze, which is a soft material, without any damage on it.

For more than forty years Ciamet produces bronze bushings. We have successfully replaced original projects of steel back bushings for solid bronze bushings in Volkswagen and John Deere (clutch and brake pedal bushings), Eaton Brazil and USA (clutch axle bushings), Zen S/A (starter motor) and many other companies. We supply bushings to the great majority of OEMs and Tiers 1 in Brazil.
